We all had those days when you look in the mirror and not like what you’re seeing. I’m not talking about just the physical appearance, a lot of times it goes deeper than that. It may have come to the point where you don’t know or like who you’ve become as a person.
I, myself is the queen of self-doubt. I remember being 15 and comparing myself to everyone else, not having the confidence, and not trusting myself. We’ve all been there. Being a teenage girl is hard, it’s a constant struggle and the worst part is you are fighting yourself, you’re your own enemy.
“No one would ever think such mean thoughts about you. No one
would ever say something so hurtful.
No one would ever hit you so hard.
You are always the meanest person you know.
And only you can stop you.”
I Wrote This For You: The Bully
Getting over that phase is the greatest achievement of my life so far. You have to realize that you don’t have to be like everyone else or someone that you look up to or admire. Sure, there’s always going to be someone that’s prettier than you or better than you but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. We are all unique and different from each other, you get to be who you want to be and that’s the beauty of it.
Always be confident. It’s probably the best advice I could give you if you’re struggling. Don’t forget though, there’s a thin line between being confident and cocky, make sure to never cross it. I know it’s not that easy to just wake up and like who you are. Take baby steps, eventually you’ll get there. Wear whatever you like, express yourself, shout to the world what you love without caring about what other people will think. As long as you’re not hurting anyone else, there’s nothing wrong with putting your happiness first.
Now that I’m 20 and old (or at least I feel like it! LOL), I’m facing a new struggle. I’m finding myself. I may still wake up from time to time and not be sure what I wanna do and want to be or might not like where my life is heading but I know now how to trust myself so, I know in time I’m gonna be alright.
No matter what happens, stay grounded, be humble, be kind, and love everything around you, especially yourself.
